At Opti-Tech Scientific, we take great pride in the people behind our technology. Today, we recognize one of our most experienced and impactful team members — Bonnie O’Halloran, who brings over 25 years of microscopy experience to the Canadian scientific and industrial communities.
Bonnie first established herself in the microscopy field through her work with Leica Microsystems, supporting hospitals, academic institutions, and life science research laboratories with advanced imaging systems for histology, pathology, and biomedical research. Her strong technical acumen, paired with a consultative, solution-focused approach, quickly established her as a trusted partner to clinicians and scientists across the country. For the past 14 years, Bonnie has been an integral part of Opti-Tech Scientific, supporting customers in both life sciences and industrial applications. From digital pathology to materials analysis and electronics inspection, her ability to bridge complex requirements with practical, high-performance solutions continues to set her apart.
Today, Bonnie serves as our full-time Microscopy Product Manager, overseeing a comprehensive portfolio that includes:
Leica Clinical and Research Microscopes – from routine clinical upright systems like the Leica DM750 to advanced research-grade platforms such as the Leica DMi8 for live-cell imaging and fluorescence applications.
Leica Digital Microscopy Systems – including the Emspira 3, designed for high-resolution, stand-alone industrial inspection, and the Leica DVM6, a fully automated digital microscope for materials research and failure analysis.
Specialized Solutions for Material Science and Quality Control – integrated with Buehler sample preparation tools and accessories, enabling complete workflows from sectioning to imaging.
Ergonomic and Workflow-Optimized Designs – addressing the evolving needs of modern labs with modularity, imaging software compatibility, and operator comfort with the all new Leica Visoria Series.
In her role, Bonnie leads product strategy, supports customer evaluations and training, and helps tailor imaging systems to a wide range of research and production environments across Canada. Whether in a university lab, biotech facility, or industrial QA/QC department, her goal is always the same: deliver clarity, reliability, and performance through the right microscopy solution.
